The Griffon Fauve de Bretagne is a highly rugged, intensely resilient scenthound. Bred in France to hunt wolves and wild boar, they are fiercely courageous, highly independent, and possess a harsh, wiry, golden-fawn coat that protects them in the most brutal, thorny terrain.
This breed is an intense working dog. They are deeply loyal to their families and surprisingly calm indoors, but their hunting instincts are overwhelming outdoors. They require vigorous daily exercise and absolutely cannot be trusted off-leash. Their harsh, wiry coat requires regular brushing and professional hand-stripping to maintain its protective texture.
