The Mastín del Pirineo is a giant, exceptionally powerful livestock guardian from the Spanish Pyrenees. Possessing a stunning, thick white coat with darker patches, they were bred to protect flocks from predators in brutal winter conditions. They are highly independent and fiercely protective.
The Pyrenean Mastiff is surprisingly gentle and deeply affectionate with its family, especially children. However, their guarding instincts are profound. They require massive early socialization to prevent severe aggression toward strangers. They are not suited for urban living and need vast space. Their thick double coat requires intense, regular brushing to manage heavy shedding.
