The Slovenský Čuvač is a giant, majestic, and intensely powerful livestock guardian from the Tatra mountains. Possessing a stunning, thick white double coat, they were bred to protect flocks from wolves and bears. They are highly independent and fearlessly courageous.
The Chuvach is a deeply serious working dog. They bond intensely with their family and are incredibly gentle with their own children, but they possess overwhelming guarding instincts. They require massive early socialization to prevent severe aggression toward strangers. They need vast open spaces to patrol; their thick coat requires regular brushing to manage heavy shedding.
