The American Cocker Spaniel is a highly affectionate, incredibly sweet-tempered, and famously beautiful flushing spaniel. Smaller than their English cousins, they possess a stunning, flowing, floor-length coat and were originally bred to hunt woodcock before becoming beloved show dogs and companions.
The American Cocker is the ultimate "Velcro dog." They form an intense bond with their family, are highly eager to please, and make exceptionally gentle lap dogs. However, their luxurious, floor-length coat requires intense, daily brushing and expensive professional grooming every few weeks to prevent severe matting. They also require careful ear cleaning.
