The Hovawart is a massive, incredibly powerful, and highly intelligent German estate guard dog. Visually resembling a heavier Golden Retriever with the coloration of a Rottweiler, they are fiercely protective, highly versatile working dogs with immense stamina.
The Hovawart is deeply loyal to its family but possesses overwhelming guarding instincts. They are naturally suspicious of strangers and require massive early socialization. They are highly dominant and require an incredibly firm, experienced leader. They absolutely require vigorous daily exercise and a job to do. Their beautiful coat requires regular brushing.
