The Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff) is a massive, incredibly powerful tracking and guarding dog. They are famously loyal but possess an intense, natural aversion to strangers (a trait called "ojeriza"). They were bred to track jaguars and guard massive estates.
The Fila is deeply devoted to its family but possesses overwhelming guarding instincts. They are naturally highly suspicious of strangers and fiercely protective. They require an incredibly experienced owner, massive early socialization, and firm leadership. They are not suited for apartment living and require vast open spaces. Their short coat is easy to maintain.
