The Lhasa Apso is an ancient, highly dignified companion breed. With their stunning, heavy, floor-length coat and deeply soulful expression, they were bred by Tibetan monks for centuries to act as indoor watchdogs in brutal, high-altitude monasteries.
The Lhasa is deeply affectionate with its family but famously aloof, highly independent, and naturally suspicious of strangers, making them exceptional watchdogs. They are notoriously stubborn and do not tolerate harsh training. They require very little exercise, making them perfect for apartments. Their massive, floor-length coat requires intense, daily brushing.
