The Tibetan Mastiff is a giant, incredibly powerful, and profoundly majestic livestock guardian. Possessing a stunning, massive double coat and a characteristic lion-like mane, they were bred to protect flocks from snow leopards and wolves in the brutal Himalayas.
The Tibetan Mastiff is deeply devoted to its family but possesses overwhelming guarding instincts. They are highly independent, naturally nocturnal, and fiercely suspicious of strangers. They require an incredibly experienced owner, massive early socialization, and vast open spaces. Their huge double coat requires intense, regular brushing to manage heavy shedding.
