The Tibetan Spaniel is an ancient, highly intelligent toy breed. With their distinctive, slightly pushed-in face, plumed tail, and striking, silky coat, they were bred by Tibetan monks to act as watchdogs, perching high on monastery walls to alert the massive Tibetan Mastiffs to intruders.
The "Tibbie" is a highly affectionate, intensely alert watchdog. They are incredibly agile and love to climb furniture like cats. They are deeply loyal to their family but famously aloof with strangers. They are highly adaptable to apartment living and require only short daily walks. Their beautiful coat requires regular brushing.
