The German Roughhaired Pointer is a highly rugged, intensely driven, and versatile hunting dog. They are fiercely intelligent, courageous, and highly protective, possessing a harsh, wiry coat that allows them to hunt in the most brutal, freezing, thorny terrain.
The Stichelhaar is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply loyal to their handler but are fiercely independent and naturally suspicious of strangers. They require an incredibly active owner who can provide massive amounts of daily running and advanced training. Their harsh, wiry coat requires regular brushing and hand-stripping.
