The Löwchen is a highly affectionate, incredibly cheerful, and surprisingly robust toy breed. Known for their traditional "lion clip" which leaves their hindquarters bare and a mane around their head, they were bred as companions for European nobility and possess a remarkably outgoing personality.
The Löwchen is a brilliant, highly playful lap dog. They are much sturdier and more athletic than typical toy breeds, absolutely dominating in agility and complex trick training. They are highly vocal watchdogs who bond intensely with their families. Their beautiful, flowing coat does not shed much (making them hypoallergenic) but requires regular brushing and professional clipping.
