Group :Spitz and primitive types Section : Nordic Watchdogs and Herders
The Norwegian Buhund is a highly energetic, incredibly smart, and intensely vocal spitz breed. Bred for centuries to herd sheep, guard farms, and accompany Vikings on ships, they possess a thick, wheaten or black double coat, tightly curled tail, and absolutely massive energy reserves.
The Buhund is brilliantly smart, highly eager to please, and deeply devoted to its family. Because they were bred to control herds by barking constantly, they are intensely vocal and make exceptional watchdogs. They absolutely require vigorous daily exercise and advanced mental stimulation. Their thick coat blows out heavily twice a year, requiring intense brushing.
