The Polish Tatra Sheepdog is a massive, incredibly powerful, and profoundly independent flock guardian. Possessing a stunning, thick white double coat, they were bred to protect flocks from wolves and bears in the brutal Tatra mountains. They are highly independent and naturally nocturnal.
The Tatra is surprisingly gentle and deeply affectionate with its family, especially children. However, their guarding instincts are profound. They require massive early socialization to prevent severe aggression toward strangers. They are not suited for urban living and need vast space. Their thick double coat requires intense, regular brushing to manage heavy shedding.
