The English Setter is a highly elegant, intensely athletic, and famously beautiful pointing dog. Instantly recognizable by their stunning, flowing, heavily speckled coat (called "belton") and aristocratic bearing, they were bred in England to hunt game birds with blistering speed.
The English Setter is famously described as the "gentleman of the dog world." They are exceptionally sweet-tempered, highly affectionate, and very patient with children. They possess massive energy reserves and require vigorous daily running. They mature slowly and require gentle, positive training. Their beautiful, feathered coat requires regular brushing to prevent tangles.
