The Caucasian Ovcharka is a giant, incredibly powerful, and profoundly aggressive livestock guardian. Possessing a stunning, massive double coat and a characteristic bear-like appearance, they were bred to protect flocks from wolves and bears in the brutal Caucasus mountains.
The Caucasian Shepherd is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply devoted to their family but possess overwhelming guarding instincts. They are highly independent, naturally nocturnal, and fiercely suspicious of strangers. They require an incredibly experienced owner, massive early socialization, and vast open spaces. Their huge double coat requires intense, regular brushing.
