The Jack Russell Terrier is a highly energetic, exceptionally rugged, and brilliantly smart working terrier. Smaller and longer-backed than the Parson Russell, they possess a harsh, wiry or smooth coat and were bred to hunt foxes and eradicate rodents with absolutely boundless energy.
The Jack Russell is the quintessential terrier: fiercely courageous, highly alert, and notoriously stubborn. They are deeply devoted to their families but possess absolutely massive energy and require vigorous daily exercise; without it, they become highly destructive. Their coat requires regular brushing and occasional hand-stripping.
