The Lancashire Heeler is a highly energetic, brilliantly smart, and surprisingly rugged herding dog. Distinguishable by their short Corgi-like legs and black-and-tan coat, they were bred in England to drive cattle to market and hunt rats, possessing absolutely boundless stamina.
The Lancashire Heeler is deeply devoted to its family but is highly independent and naturally suspicious of strangers. They are brilliant problem-solvers that absolutely require a job to do; without advanced obedience or herding, they will become destructive and nippy. They require vigorous daily exercise. Their short coat is very easy to maintain.
