The Segugio Maremmano is a highly rugged, intensely resilient scenthound from Italy. Specially bred to hunt wild boar in the brutal, dense brush of the Maremma region, they are fiercely courageous, highly determined, and possess a remarkable ability to hold dangerous game at bay.
This breed is an intense, fiercely independent hunter. Indoors, they are calm, deeply affectionate, and highly loyal to their families. However, outdoors, their nose dictates their actions completely. They cannot be trusted off-leash and require an incredibly active owner who can provide massive amounts of daily running. Their short or wire coat is very easy to care for.
