The Yakutian Laika is an ancient, incredibly powerful, and highly primitive sled and hunting dog from Siberia. Possessing a stunning, thick double coat and immense stamina, they were bred by the Yakut people to haul heavy loads and hunt reindeer in brutal, freezing Arctic conditions.
The Yakutian Laika is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply devoted to their family but possess an overwhelming prey drive and are naturally suspicious of strangers. They demand an incredibly experienced owner and absolutely massive amounts of daily exercise, preferably pulling weight. Their huge double coat requires intense, regular brushing.
