The Beauceron is a massive, incredibly powerful, and highly intelligent herding and guarding dog from France. Often described as a heavier, more rugged Doberman Pinscher, they possess a short black-and-tan coat, double dewclaws on their hind legs, and an imposing, majestic presence.
The Beauceron is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply devoted to their families, fiercely protective, and brilliantly smart. They require an incredibly active, experienced owner who can provide vigorous daily exercise and advanced obedience training; without a job, they become destructive. Their short coat is easy to care for but sheds moderately.
