Training Your Schipperke

The Schipperke is a small, fiercely energetic, and highly curious watchdog originally bred for Belgian canal boats. They are incredibly smart and willful.

Key Training Tips:

• Boredom Prevention: They are bursting with energy. If not given a "job" or complex training tasks, they will invent their own, usually destructive, games.
• Barking Control: They are extremely alert and vocal watchdogs. Teach the "quiet" command early and consistently to prevent nuisance barking.
• Prey Drive: They have a strong instinct to chase small animals. A reliable recall command and secure fencing are absolutely essential.

They excel in agility and obedience when provided with fast-paced, highly rewarding, and engaging training sessions.
