Training Your Borzoi

The Borzoi is a giant, elegant sight-hound bred to hunt wolves. They are highly independent, incredibly fast, and generally quiet dogs.

Key Training Tips:

• Leash Safety: They are visual hunters. If they see a small animal run, they will chase it at 35 mph. They must always be leashed in unsecured areas.
• Gentle Consistency: They are highly sensitive and proud. Harsh training will ruin your bond. Use gentle, positive reinforcement and respect their independence.
• Keep it Brief: They bore easily and do not enjoy repetitive obedience drills. Teach the basics in short, engaging sessions.

They are deeply affectionate with their families but require an owner who understands the unique needs of a giant sight-hound.
