The Afghan Hound is an aristocratic sight-hound with a famously independent, aloof, and highly stubborn nature. They are notoriously difficult to train.

• Patience is Mandatory: They are like cats in dog bodies; they simply do not care about pleasing you. Training requires immense patience and a good sense of humor.
• Never Off-Leash: They have an extreme prey drive and can run up to 40 mph. Never let them off-leash in an unfenced area; they will not come back when called.
• Positive Motivation: Harsh corrections will cause them to shut down entirely. Use high-value treats and keep sessions incredibly short.
