Training Your Saluki

The Saluki is one of the oldest dog breeds, bred for immense speed and endurance. They are highly elegant, aloof, and famously independent thinkers.

Key Training Tips:

• Never Off-Leash: As sight-hounds, their instinct to chase is overpowering. They must never be allowed off-leash in an unfenced area, as recall is nearly impossible once they spot prey.
• Gentle Motivation: They are highly sensitive and do not respond to forceful training. Use soft praise and treats, and keep sessions extremely brief.
• Socialization: They are naturally timid and reserved with strangers. Early socialization is necessary to build their confidence.
