Training Your Papillon

The Papillon is arguably the smartest of all toy breeds. Recognizable by their butterfly-like ears, they are brilliant, highly active, and fiercely eager to please.

Key Training Tips:

• Advanced Training: Basic obedience is too easy for them. They absolutely dominate in agility, obedience, and rally trials. Give them complex puzzles to solve.
• Socialization: While confident, early socialization ensures their natural alertness does not turn into excessive barking at strangers.
• Keep Sessions Active: They bore easily with repetitive drills. Keep training sessions incredibly fast-paced, utilizing high-energy play as a reward.

They are highly affectionate but require an owner who can keep up with their brilliant, active minds.
