Training Your German Hound

The Deutsche Bracke is a robust, highly resilient, and fiercely driven scenthound from Germany. They are highly intelligent but intensely independent.

Key Training Tips:

• Scent Distraction: When their nose hits the ground, their ears turn off completely. They must be kept in securely fenced areas or on a leash at all times outdoors.
• Firm Consistency: They do not take orders easily and view themselves as independent hunters. Establish yourself as a firm, consistent leader.

They are deeply devoted family dogs that respond terribly to harshness; use only positive reinforcement.
