The American Akita is a massive, incredibly powerful, and profoundly independent guard dog. They are fiercely protective and naturally intolerant of other dogs.

Key Training Tips:

• Expert Leadership Required: They do not take orders easily and view themselves as the alpha. You must be an incredibly calm, confident, and dominant leader.
• Dog Aggression: They possess immense dog aggression, especially toward same-sex dogs. They must be managed by a highly experienced handler.
