Training Your Jämthund

The Jämthund (Swedish Elkhound) is a large, powerful spitz breed used for hunting moose. They are highly intelligent, courageous, and fiercely independent.

Key Training Tips:

• Barking Management: They are bred to hold moose at bay by barking continuously. Teach the "quiet" command early, as their voice is incredibly loud and persistent.
• Respect Their Independence: They are not eager to please and will ignore repetitive drills. Keep training practical, firm, and highly motivating.

They are intensely loyal to their family but demand an active, experienced owner.
