Training Your Komondor

Instantly recognizable by their heavy, corded coat, the Komondor is an ancient Hungarian flock guardian. They are fiercely independent and highly protective.

Key Training Tips:

• Expert Handling Required: They were bred to guard livestock without human direction. They are highly stubborn and require an incredibly experienced, confident owner.
• Socialization is Vital: Their natural instinct is to view all strangers as threats. Extensive, positive socialization is the only way to manage this trait safely.
• Grooming Training: Their corded coat requires immense upkeep. You must train them from puppyhood to lie perfectly still for hours of grooming.

They are intensely loyal to their family but will never act like a typical, eager-to-please obedience dog.
