The Pumi is a highly energetic, incredibly smart Hungarian herding dog with a fiercely loyal, terrier-like spirit. Easily recognized by their whimsical, corkscrew-curled coat and semi-erect ears, they were bred to drive cattle and sheep with intense speed, barking, and nipping.
The Pumi is intensely alert, highly playful, and possesses absolutely boundless energy. They think incredibly fast and bore easily, requiring an intensely active owner who can provide advanced agility or obedience training. They are highly vocal watchdogs. Their unique curly coat does not shed much but requires regular combing and trimming.
