The PBGV is a highly energetic, short-legged, wire-haired scenthound from France. Bred to hunt rabbits in dense, thorny brush, they are incredibly agile, fiercely courageous, and famously joyful. They possess a remarkably loud, ringing bark that they love to use.
The PBGV is famously described as a "happy hound." They are intensely social, brilliant problem-solvers, and deeply affectionate. However, they are notoriously stubborn and possess an overwhelming prey drive. They require firm training, highly secure fencing, and vigorous daily walks. Their rough, shaggy coat requires regular brushing to prevent painful matting.
