The Welsh Terrier is a highly energetic, exceptionally rugged, and brilliantly smart working terrier. Looking like a miniature Airedale, they possess a harsh, wiry black-and-tan coat and were bred to hunt foxes, badgers, and otters in the brutal, mountainous terrain of Wales.
The Welsh Terrier is the quintessential terrier: fiercely courageous, highly alert, and notoriously stubborn. They are deeply devoted to their families but possess boundless energy and absolutely require vigorous daily exercise; without it, they become highly destructive. Their wiry coat sheds very little but requires regular hand-stripping to maintain its texture.
