The West Highland White Terrier is a highly energetic, brilliantly smart, and famously sturdy working terrier. Bred in Scotland specifically to possess a pure white coat so they wouldn't be mistaken for foxes during a hunt, they are intensely courageous, highly alert, and deeply devoted.
The "Westie" is deeply affectionate and highly playful, making them exceptional family companions. They are less stubborn than typical terriers but still possess an overwhelming prey drive and will chase anything that moves. They require vigorous daily exercise. Their harsh, wiry white coat requires regular brushing and professional grooming to maintain its iconic look.
