The Shetland Sheepdog is a highly intelligent, intensely agile, and famously beautiful herding dog from Scotland. Often resembling a miniature Rough Collie, the "Sheltie" possesses absolutely massive energy reserves and an intense work ethic, bred to herd sheep on the rugged Shetland Islands.
Shelties are brilliantly smart, highly eager to please, and deeply affectionate with their families. They absolutely dominate in agility and obedience trials. However, they are intensely vocal and possess a strong instinct to herd by nipping at heels. They require vigorous daily exercise. Their stunning double coat sheds heavily and requires intense, regular brushing.
