Group :Pointing Dogs Section : British and Irish Pointers and Setters
The Irish Setter is a highly elegant, intensely athletic, and famously beautiful pointing dog. Instantly recognizable by their stunning, flowing mahogany coat and aristocratic bearing, they were bred in Ireland to hunt game birds over vast, rugged terrain with blistering speed.
The Irish Setter is famously described as the "clown of the sporting group." They are deeply affectionate, highly playful, and exceptionally eager to please. They possess massive energy reserves and require vigorous daily running. They mature very slowly, retaining a clumsy, puppy-like demeanor for years. Their beautiful, feathered coat requires regular brushing to prevent tangles.
