Group :Terriers Section : Large and medium sized Terriers
The Irish Terrier is a highly athletic, fiercely courageous, and brilliantly smart working dog. Recognized by their striking, harsh red coat and racy build, they were the only terrier to serve as messengers in the trenches of World War I, proving their unparalleled bravery.
Often called the "Daredevil of the Emerald Isle," the Irish Terrier is deeply affectionate with its family but famously aggressive toward other dogs. They are intensely energetic and absolutely require vigorous daily exercise and firm, consistent leadership. Their harsh, wiry coat sheds very little but requires regular hand-stripping to maintain its protective texture.
