The Whippet is a highly elegant, incredibly fast sight-hound, often described as a "poor man's racehorse." Looking like a smaller, more robust Greyhound, they were bred in England to hunt rabbits and race. They are the fastest dogs in the world for their weight.
The Whippet is the ultimate couch potato indoors. They are deeply affectionate, exceptionally clean, and perfectly suited for apartment living. However, outdoors, they possess an overwhelming prey drive and will sprint after anything that moves. They absolutely cannot be trusted off-leash. Their extremely short coat requires almost no grooming, but they are highly sensitive to cold.
