The Tibetan Terrier is a highly robust, intensely agile companion dog. Despite the name, they are not terriers at all; they were bred by Tibetan monks to be watchdogs and companions in brutal, high-altitude monasteries. They possess a stunning, profuse, shaggy double coat and unique "snowshoe" feet.
The Tibetan Terrier is deeply affectionate, highly playful, and famously sweet-tempered. They are incredibly agile and excel in dog sports, requiring vigorous daily exercise. They form intense bonds with their families but can be aloof with strangers. Their massive, shaggy coat requires intense, daily brushing and professional grooming to prevent severe, painful matting.
