The Black and Tan Coonhound is a large, incredibly powerful, and highly robust tracking hound. Bred in America specifically to track raccoons and bear through brutal, swampy terrain and hold them up a tree, they possess absolutely massive stamina and a deep, booming, highly musical bay.
The Black and Tan is famously calm, exceptionally gentle, and highly affectionate indoors. However, outdoors, they are ruled entirely by their nose. Once they catch a scent, they cannot be called off, making highly secure fencing and leash-walking mandatory. They require massive daily exercise, drool profusely, and their heavy ears require meticulous cleaning.
