The Broholmer is a massive, heavily built, and incredibly powerful guard dog from Denmark. Bred by Danish nobility to guard enormous estates and hunt wild boar, they possess a robust frame, a deep, booming bark, and an imposing, majestic presence.
The Broholmer is deeply devoted and surprisingly gentle with its family, but possesses an overwhelming guarding instinct. They are naturally highly suspicious of strangers and fiercely protective. They require massive early socialization, firm, consistent leadership, and moderate daily exercise. Their short coat is easy to care for, but they drool heavily and are prone to giant-breed health issues.
