The Cão Fila de São Miguel is a rugged, highly resilient, and fiercely protective herding and guard dog from the Azores. Recognized by their distinctive brindle coat and often uniquely rounded cropped ears, they were bred to drive cattle and aggressively guard property.
The Saint Miguel Cattle Dog is a highly serious working dog. They are deeply loyal to their handler but possess overwhelming guarding instincts and immense dog aggression. They require an incredibly experienced owner, massive early socialization, and firm leadership. They are not suited for apartment living. Their short coat is easy to maintain.
