The Carpathian Shepherd is a massive, fiercely protective, and highly majestic livestock guardian. Possessing a stunning, thick wolf-grey double coat, they were bred to protect flocks from predators in the brutal Carpathian mountains. They are highly independent and fearlessly courageous.
The Carpathian is a deeply serious working dog. They bond intensely with their family and are surprisingly gentle with their own children, but they possess overwhelming guarding instincts. They require massive early socialization to prevent severe aggression toward strangers. They need vast open spaces to patrol; their thick coat requires regular brushing.
