Complete Guide to the Australian Terrier

The Australian Terrier is a small, incredibly sturdy, and highly spirited working terrier. Bred in Australia to withstand harsh conditions, they were utilized to eradicate snakes and rodents. They are slightly longer than they are tall, featuring a harsh, wiry coat and a distinctive topknot of softer hair.

Temperament and Care

Aussies are famously courageous, highly intelligent, and very eager to please, making them easier to train than many other terriers. They are intensely alert watchdogs and deeply devoted to their families. Because of their strong prey drive, they should be leashed in open areas. Their wiry coat is remarkably low-maintenance, requiring only weekly brushing and occasional stripping.
