Group :Terriers Section : Large and medium sized Terriers
The Border Terrier is a rugged, highly resilient working terrier originating near the Scottish-English border. Bred specifically to possess legs long enough to keep up with horses during a fox hunt, but a body small enough to follow a fox underground, they are incredibly versatile and intensely driven.
Border Terriers are famously described as "hard as nails" in the field, yet deeply affectionate and eager to please in the home. They are much less stubborn than typical terriers, making them highly trainable. They have an overwhelming prey drive and will chase anything that runs. Their harsh, wiry coat requires regular hand-stripping to maintain its protective texture.
