The Poitevin is a highly elegant, incredibly fast scenthound originating from the Poitou region of France. Bred specifically to hunt deer and wolves over vast distances, they combine the endurance of a hound with the blistering speed of a greyhound, making them elite, specialized pack hunters.
The Poitevin is an intense working dog. They are highly independent, deeply pack-oriented, and not typically suited for a standard family home unless the owner is highly active. They require absolute massive amounts of running in secure areas to prevent severe destructive boredom. Their short, sleek coat requires virtually no maintenance, but they need high-quality food to fuel their metabolism.
