The Komondor is a massive, incredibly powerful flock guardian from Hungary. Instantly recognizable by their extraordinary white, corded coat that resembles dreadlocks, they were bred to live outside year-round and protect sheep from wolves and bears. Their coat acts as armor against predator bites and brutal weather.
The Komondor is a highly serious, fiercely protective working dog. They are deeply loyal to their family but naturally suspicious and aggressive toward strangers and unknown dogs. They require an incredibly experienced owner, massive socialization, and firm leadership. Their unique corded coat requires very specialized, time-consuming care to keep the cords separated and clean.
