Training Your Lakeland Terrier

The Lakeland Terrier is a small, highly courageous, and incredibly confident working terrier. They are quick learners but fiercely independent.

Key Training Tips:

• Avoid Repetition: They bore easily. Keep training sessions incredibly short (5 minutes max) and switch up the routines constantly to maintain their interest.
• Manage the Digging: They were bred to dig into rocky fox dens. Instead of punishing the instinct, provide a dedicated digging box filled with soft dirt and toys.
• Prey Drive: They will chase anything. A reliable recall is essential, but they should rarely be trusted off-leash outdoors.

They are highly affectionate, entertaining dogs that require a patient, highly engaging owner.
