The Japanese Chin is an elegant, cat-like toy breed known for its fastidious grooming habits and astonishing agility. They are intelligent but independent.

• Respect Their Independence: Like cats, they will only obey if they see a good reason to do so. Use incredibly high-value treats to hold their attention.
• Leash Training: They are surprisingly agile and love to jump. Teach loose-leash walking early, using a harness instead of a collar to protect their delicate windpipes.
• Positive Encouragement: They are sensitive and aristocratic. Harsh tones will cause them to ignore you completely. Keep sessions short and sweet.
