The Schweizer Laufhund is a highly elegant, intensely driven scenthound bred to hunt in the rugged terrain of the Swiss Alps. They possess exceptional stamina, an incredibly sensitive nose, and a remarkably beautiful, deep baying voice that carries for miles across the mountains.
This breed is an intense, fiercely independent hunter. Indoors, they are calm, deeply affectionate, and highly loyal to their families. However, outdoors, they are ruled entirely by their nose and cannot be trusted off-leash. They require massive amounts of vigorous daily running. Their short coat is easy to groom, but their long ears need regular cleaning.
