The Suomenajokoira, or Finnish Hound, is a highly athletic, intensely driven scenthound bred to hunt hare and fox in brutal, snowy conditions. They are the most popular hunting breed in Finland, possessing incredible stamina, a melodious baying voice, and a highly weather-resistant tricolor coat.
The Finnish Hound is a highly serious working dog. They are calm, gentle, and deeply affectionate indoors, but outdoors their nose completely rules their brain. They cannot be trusted off-leash and require an incredibly active owner who can provide massive amounts of daily running. Their short, dense coat is very easy to care for.
